The Silmarillion gets a little boring when it starts talking aout the genealogy, but it's pretty good, and I love the other ones!

Yeah, I have friends who love them. I would read them, but I don't have a lot of time. Although, one of these days I might read them.

I've read the Hobbit. Personally, I thought it was boring. I like "The Chronicles of Narnia" much better.

Have you heard Focus on the Family's radio drama of it? It's really good. I imagine the movie will be even better. Is the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe your fav. book in the series? Mine is Prince Caspian, although I like the Last Battle. I did not like the Magicain's Nephew.

I've never read a Tolkien book, and never will. I know they say that Tolkien was a Christian, but from a brief glimpse of the movie(s), I don't think that the books or the films are very Christian at all, IMHO.

WHAT!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!! I don't want to get started about all of the different ways the LOTR has to do with Christianity because it would take all year, but Tolkien was very definitely a Christian author and he was also C.S. Lewis' best friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Geberia to answer your question I'd have to say the Last Battle. They are all really good though.

Titanian, I base my opinions on the evidence of things that I regard as bad, like wizardry or other things. Gotta run now, though.

Lord of the Rings is the best! Pleeeeeeeease don't pass off the books because of the movies. The movies don't do the books justice, both from a Christian perspective and an entertainment perspective. I could, and have, debated for hours on whether we, as Christians, should watch/read LotR so if you want to get me started go ahead. ;D I will tell you though that you are missing out on the best books ever written (except one).

I think the movies and the books are great.
How do you think the movies don't give them justice, GenJ?

I have read the books like two or three times. I also read the Silmarillion, but I thought it was boring. The movies are great, but they leave some things out from the books. I can't wait for the hobbit movie.

I read the hobbit it took me a while to get into it but once i was i thought it was great! I haven't read LOTR but I've seen the movies and i thought the 2nd one was the most hysterical thing i have ever seen ... though I did go see it with my bestfriend and we were kinda hyper at the time lol... the funniest bit was when the living tree ( i don't know r they called ents) had no friends but i don't mean to offend anyone i know they're amazing books I just find odd things funny B

I have read all of Tolkien's books, and have found them very entertaining and very thoughful. If you look closely, many elements of Bible stories are found in the Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings. The movies do not to the books justice in the respect that they focus on entertainment, battles, and a love relationship between Aragorn and Arwen. I still enjoy them, however.

I agree, Geberia, the movies might not be the best idea for you to watch- they ARE violent, and magic is used.
THe books are the best! I read, like, ALL of Tolkien's works, and I am almost a total lord of the rings FREAK!!!!!
CS lewis is just as good, though!
