My personal hobby- writing!
My reasons for this hobby is it makes me understand things. Or at least helps me pretend to. Writing encourages my subjectivity and imagination, and also improves my skills!
Anyone else like writing?

I love to write! I'm just not very good at it. I have like 10 long novels that I've started but have never finished. But I enjoy doing it and it comes in handy on essays!

I love writing! As you can tell by my pace of posting on this forum ;D Most of the serious essay writing I do is assigned in my Great Books class I take online, but I do that frequently enough to keep me on my toes. Personally, the way I learned to write well was simply reading, reading, and more reading. All those eloquent philosophers from the Classical period had impeccable grammar, graceful lines, and clever notions. Because of reading them, I have good grammar (anyone reading them over time will get good grammar), but funnily enough, I generally can't tell you any grammatical terms or anything of that sort. It's rather weird. I also have written a (very large) fragment of an unfinished book, but looking back on it, it's filled with cliches, simplistic characters, and not very imaginative scenes. I have realized the importance of careful planning before you attempt any kind of novel. But I haven't actually followed through with the principle ;D

Yea, I write random short stories. Believe me, random is the right word here. The characters all end up with strange names (Lenny Leptude), I could never do names, and they're all really wacky (in case you thought someone named Lenny Leptude was normal). Some of the stories end up with plots like crashing planes on the way to Hawaii, others are straight out of Fractured Fairy Tales from Rocky and Bullwinkle (love that show), usually involving inept princes. So yea, I can fuel my sense of humor into something besides people (scary isn't it).

Yeah, I guess you can tell who is a writer here and who isn't.
And I agree with Falklands, the more you read, the better you get at writing. And I also have th same problem. Either my story style seems too dry, or its so exciting its unbelievable.

It'd be very entertaining. No, really.

I would, but my recent stories (Lenny Leptude and the other inept prince one) were all lost in a computer crash , so now I have to write some more.

I hate that! I lost a 300 page document (that IS three hundred) to a virus- but eventually I got most of it back!
I love to write....

I love to write, it shows my might, for when the light, shines in the night, I'll put up a fight, with a pen. The end.
(I took a whole thirty seconds to write that!)

That reminds me of the Far Side comic: in a school for dogs, the teacher asks all the little puppies, "Ok, who DIDN'T eat their homework on the way to school today?"

Still, I have to admit processed wood probably wouldn't be too good for a cat's stomach...
