SAT and CLEP essays- generally dealing (two page max) with success and other feel-good topics.
Hate them ALLL!!!
BTW, to all praying for my SAT test- it went GREAT, and I got a good score!!!!! Yay!
Congrats! But as for topics, here's some taken from the book "How to prepare for the SAT II Writing":
No. 1: "A wealthy donor has prmised to give your school 1 million to be used either for the advancement of sceince or for promoting the arts and humanities.
The donation cannot be divided; it must be all or nothing.
If the issue were to be put to the students of your school to decide, which would you support? In an essay, please explain the reasons for your choices."
No. 2: "The world is an imperfect place, and one could throw the stone of criticism in many different directions. One direction in which I would throw a stone is _____________
Complete the above statement by choosing a school, local, national, or world condition that, in your opinion, deserves to be criticized. In an essay, please explain why you chose it.
No. 3: "Many students claim that if they work very hard in a course, they should earn very high grades. Other claim that achievement rather than effort should determine student grades/
Please write an essay in which you explain your position on this issue."
No. 4: ""WANT TO GET AHEAD? TRY LYING" says a headline, with the idea that those who always tell the truth, or tell too much of the truth, are doomed to fail.
Does this statement accurately describe the way things are? Or is it a cynical distortion of the truth? Evaluate the validity of the statement according to your experience, observation, or study.
No. 5: ""The American Dream" is an often-used phrase in our culture. The meaning of the phrase has kept changing, however, as our society has changed. The earliest settlers dreamed of religious, political, and personal freedom. Millions of immigrants dreamed of economic opportunity. Native Americans, perhaps, dreamed of being left alone on their land, and African-Americans of full and equal participation in society.
Write an essay in which you discuss today's "American Dream." Please don't comment on your personal dream (college, a good job, marriage, etc.), but rather on what you see as a collective American dream, based on your observation, study, or reading."
Of course you are. You're a child of God.
1 John 4:7-19
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
We love him, because he first loved us.
