But you have to admit he did it right in front of a ref. Not so smart.
Now that I would agree with. I sure didn't see it.
Yea, that was pretty sad.

agreed on all of those calls. Altough they were made against Seattle at crucial moments in the game, I still think Pittsburgh would've won. They are just tougher, and the coaching unit is much better than that of Seattles.

Pittsburgh played good enough to win, as I said in my previous post. I'd just rather see the game be officiated fairly.

Reminds me...in 2004 England's national football team played against Portugal (amazing game) in the European Championship (huuuuge event). There was this supposedly unbiased Swiss man as a referee. In the last few minutes England and Portugal were tied, and England got a corner kick on Portugal. In a crowded situation in the goalie box, one of ours headed the ball in, in a spectacular goal. 'Course, we should have won the game, but the ref disallowed the goal because one of our players, while keeping his concentration fixed on the ball, accidentally pushed the Portugese goalkeeper on the shoulders. Portugal eventually won in penalty shootouts to go on to the semifinal, and after that all England was in uproar about that Swiss ref. It was actually quite funny to see the reaction afterward, but really, that was not a good bit of "reffing". Still with me? ;D

I think I understood that, Falk! LOL. Who here is excited about the Winter Olympics? I am, although I don't think the American teams will do well

I think the Americans can do well. An American can't remember his name sits atop of speed skating. He won the 600 M race, beating a second place Dutchman by 2 whole seconds, Sasha Cohen has the best chance of upsetting Sluetskaya for gold in womens figure skating, we have the best snowboarders in the world right now, we have 2 downhill skiers threatining for gold, Ben Agosto and his partner (can't remember her name) are the defending World Championships Silver medalists in Ice Dancing and have a great shot for gold, Weir and Lyscheck have great chances for medals in mens figure skating. Americans have quite a few good chances for gold.

It's a shame; both big-time Americans in the downhill skiing didn't get on the podium. They actually changed their skis at the last moment before skiing, so I don't know what difference that made. Actually, this Frenchman got a surprise win. Man, was he fast! But then, all of them are fast. There's such a tiny difference between times, all of them deserve accolade.

Unfortunately, I missed it completely. It was getting too late, and we were watching the telly from the neighbours' house. Oh well...this is the particular time of the year that I wish we had a TV. Oh, of course I'll be wanting to catch the World Cup too

Oh yeah, we were actually inside the neighbours house, looking out through their window, completely demolishing the wall of our own house, turning on the telly in our living room with a remote, and finally watching the World Cup Football from inside someone else's house, to our house, with enraged parents and a $20,000 debt to reconstruct the wall, which we had to start working on immediately, so we couldn't actually watch the World Cup until 2010 when we decided to be less adventurous and actually stayed in our own house watching our own telly, but by then England had crashed out of the qualifying rounds, what with David Beckham and Michael Owen getting injuries, so it was pointless to watch, so...

If we did get a TV, we'd lock all the channels excepting the ones with the World Cup, really interesting programs, etc. I know that TV is getting so dirty these days, and besides, it could easily get to be just another pointless distraction. We've survived this long in America without one...

Uh, I'll go back to talking about the winter olympics...
They were pretty insane!! I CAN'T STAND BODE MILLER, though!!!! UGGHHHH! I'm kinda glad he left without a medal.
Apolo Anton Ono had the right attitude, though.

Post by Armany on Mar 4, 2006 8:45:51 GMT -5
Yeah, Miller and Chad Hedrick were real jerks before and during the Games. I kind of regret that Hedrick got any medals. It's probably made his ego even bigger.
I thought that, from my own very casual viewing of the Olympics, that the US team pretty much underacheived throughout, with the exception of our speedskaters.
