Many of us here about the seven days of creation... What if the "days" aren't the 24 hour time slot we normally think of, but really thousands and thousands of years. Like it says in the bible, " a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day". Just wondering what you thought on the topic.

lol i think it's very possible that it was really like 7,000 years 'cause if you study plate tectonics it shows that even if it happened faster than most expect it still would need to be about 6,000 or so

and also, it could bring up the point of if some evolution did take place that is during those thousands of years

Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, over the cattle, over all of the eartg and over every ting that creeps on the earth. So GOD created man in his own image; in the image of God he created him; male and female, he created them.

Interesting...I have thought of that before. This isn't the first time I've thought about a day as of a 1000 years and his 7 days could have been 7000 years. But, I still think that GDL is probably right. God probably was talking about our days, yet, hey, we never know...
And the other thing is, we were never a monkey. I know that for a fact. I agree with GDL on that one. We were created in the image of God.

I believe god created man, we did not evolve and if we did why are there still apes, gorillas and monkeys still here? and also our current 7 day system/calendar is based on the created roman and celtic calendars which was created from watching stars and the movement of the sun, so i believe that the 7 days could be different then our current system.

Yeah but God knew that our days would be what they are now.
And another thing is, nomatter what system whether it be Roman, Celtic, Jewish, or any other, from the beginning of time, our earth's days have always been where the sun appears to travel around the earth a full complete time.
For instance, the Jewish may believe that a day is from 6:00 pm to 6:00 pm and we may believe that a day is from 12:00 am to 12:00 am, but nomatter what, the sun still appears make a full travel around the earth before we call it the next day.

I believe god created man, we did not evolve and if we did why are there still apes, gorillas and monkeys still here? To answer your question, from what I know about evolution and what the proponents of it believe in, an evolutionist would tell you that we did not evolve from a monkey as we know it today, per se, but from a common ancestor that both humans and apes share today. I am not an evolutionist, however, and I don't believe in it (if you have any doubts, take a look at my posts in that thread I posted above) ;D. I am just trying to help everyone understand the concept of evolution so they can REFUTE it based on cold hard evidence and knowledge of the concept.

I think that when God said 7 days he meant 7 days. He santified the 7th day and set it aside to be holy. Now it wouldn't make much sense to have a special day every 7,000 years, would it? This brings up another question, how old do you think the earth is? I say that its only thousands, not billions and millions.

GDL, i didn't mean to say that evolution was true by any means. I was just thinking about how some people claim that the seven days of creation aren't true because of fossil records. But, if the seven days were infact more like thousands of years, the dinosaurs would have been around for a while before God created us.

No one knows how long Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden. Isn't it possible that they were in the garden for millions of years. Why'll the dinos existed outside of the garden.

Well, obviously they had to be in the garden at some point to be named by Adam. I'm not sure how long Adam and Eve lived in the garden. I don't think it was millions and millions of years. When God says that Adam lived to be 930, do you think that he is counting the time in the garden?

I think the fossils are explained by the flood.

No I don't think he was counting the time in the garden for age. For you couldn't die in the Garden for sin had not yet been introduced to the world. And As we all know it is sin that makes us age and eventually die.
