TRUSTING IN GOD
BY CATOEPIA AND NEW TITANIA
Friends,
Today’s sermon has one fact that we want you to remember for the rest of your days:
God is with us. He is always there for us.
Being teenagers, we all know that life can be tough! We have to think about our future: getting a job, doing school, going to college, having a career, etc. We will soon be adults and our childhood will be cast behind us. The question that comes to mind is, “Am I ready for this change?” You know that there will be a ton of responsibility, vulnerability, and the possibility to sink or swim. Let’s face it . . . it’s scary! All of a sudden it will be time to leave behind our happy-go-lucky childhoods and our parents won’t be there to protect us from everything! That is why we MUST rely on God and His word and let Him guide us through life’s rough spots.
The devil doesn’t want us to make it. He is the source of our stress and our misery. He wants us to fall and get farther from God. That’s why we must resist the temptations of the devil and live according to the Word of God and in the example of Jesus Christ (aka, WWJD?). As Jesus said in Matthew 28:20: “. . . And surely I am with you always until the very end of the age.”<br>
God will forever be there to guide us. As it says in Isaiah 26:4, “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord is the Rock eternal.” It also says in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all of your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your path.” Aren’t these great words to think about? God is clearly telling us (in modern day terms) “I’ve got your back.” God will be with us through this scary part of our life! In Isaiah 43:1, it says : “But now, this is what the LORD says […] "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.” God is telling us AGAIN that we can rely on Him. As long as we confess his name with our mouths, accept Jesus as our Savior, and praise him in all that we do, He will be there to guide you.
There is a popular Christian song performed by the group Selah entitled, “You Raise Me Up.” It’s amazing how when you listen to this song, it brings home the message of God’s love for us through his Son. Many of you have probably heard it. We’ve been listening to it often, and it’s amazing how it just plays through our heads every time something bad happens in my life. God’s words of assurance will bring you comfort and strength in whatever situation.
Thus, we end this message as we began it:
God is with us. He is always there for us.
