The world being created in 6 days? Impossible. Well, God can do anything, he can make it in 6 days! Also, there's no way to really prove evolution. Yes there is, fossils! Show me one scrap of evidence for creationism

Here's proof against evolution: World population growth rate in recent times is about 2% per year. Practicable application of growth rate throughout human history would be about half that number. Wars, disease, famine, etc. have wiped out approximately one third of the population on average every 82 years. Starting with eight people, and applying these growth rates since the Flood of Noah's day (about 4500 years ago) would give a total human population at just under six billion people. However, application on an evolutionary time scale runs into major difficulties. Starting with one "couple" just 41,000 years ago would give us a total population of 2 x 1089. 9The universe does not have space to hold so many bodies. for more go to www.remnantofgod.org/creation.htm

Disease ect would have killed about 1 in 3 children.

Well, what makes a fossil? Fossils happen when something living is suddenly killed, then preserved, such as in mud, ice, etc....Well, what about the Flood? All that water suddenly coming down covering the whole earth would've caused mudslides, rockslides, etc...which would instantly have buried the animals, however, the mud, etc... would keep them intact. There seems to be a circular reasoning relating to dating the fossils among evolutionists. They date the fossils by the age of the earth around it, and then they date the age of the earth by the fossil!

Well, actually Darwin said fossils were the biggest piece of evidence against his theory, since we (still) have no fossils of animals in the middle of evolution.
Well, the one that always got me was, where did the world come from then? Chain reactions can only go back so far. Example, here's the world. OK, well where did it come from? Big Bang. OK, where did it come from? Eventually, your going to come to the beginning of the chain reaction. Something had to start it, how did the big bang suddenly happen out of nothing?

I'm new here (friend of Steelsheen's). Very interesting discussion going on here. Mikor, the Bible says a lot about Satan, particularly Matthew 4 ( www.gnpcb.org/esv/search/?q=matthew+4). In this chapter, Jesus is being tempted by Satan. This is the pivotal point that shows why Jesus is better than Satan in the whole Bible, I think. This passage also shows that Satanists should put at least some stock in the Bible. After all, if you read the chapter, you will find that Satan was quoting the Bible. Consider this passage: "8 Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” 11 Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him." I would challenge you, Mikor, to read the Bible in its entirety, but particularly the New Testament.

Isn't it depressing being a satanist? I mean, Jesus is going to win in the end, so why would you chose a loosing side?

How can he? the created being is never greater than the creator.
And the battle between darkness and light- nothing against something. The nothing can not move in unless the something moves back.

Oh, and BTW, don't argue quantum mechanics unless you actually understand them.

Yes, but out of nothing? I admit, I'm not a Quantum Mechanics expert. But I have trouble believing there is a scientific explanation for something spontaneously combusting out of nothing. You have to have some sort of matter for something to happen. Spontaneous life just doesn't happen.

You have to have some sort of matter for something to happen. Spontaneous life just doesn't happen. It didnt - There was a chemical reaction billions of years ago and Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) was formed. DNA is life, it just adapted itself to survive

Well, technically (not to play the Devil's Advocate, I think Mikor's already got that job anyway ;D), its not. If I put together everything I without a shadow of a doubt know as fact, well, I have to come the conclusion that its very possible this entire "God thing" is a sham. Or, (for the benefit of Mikor), its very possible that, yea, Satan is going to win in the end. Of course, its also possible I'm in a laboratory right now hallucinating my entire life while aliens perform experiments on me. However, I'm fairly sure that that's not the case. Likewise, I'm also fairly certain that there is a God, and that he does, as you put it, win in the end.
I was getting there....
Yes, where did these chemicals for the chemical reaction come from?

No, its something we believe in, but that doesn't make it a fact. Example, Gravity is fact. If you jump off a cliff, you die. However, its not undeniable fact that God exists. Now, don't get me wrong here, I'm just getting technical. Of course God does exist and I believe very sincerely that he will win. But as to your "its a fact if your a Christian," than for Mikor its a fact that the devil will win, because he's a satanist. If what you believe determines your reality, than "facts" can be very relative.

How's this - I BELIEVE its a FACT! I wasn't there at Creation, but I believe the FACTS I read in the Bible. I can't see air, but I both KNOW and BELIEVE it is there. The same with God.
In a sermon I heard a few days ago, an intresting point was made - with God, you must first believe, and then he gives you the understanding. The reserrection - the Virgin birth- it dosn't make sense till you believe.

Actually the hebrew for 'virgin' can also be translated as 'young woman', so mary may not have been a virgin. Oh, and you can see air. Burn a match over a boiling tube to collect the carbon dioxide, then tip it upside-down and watch its shadow. You can see the carbon dioxide pouring out.

Quantum mechanics - Uncaused effects can happen Quantum meachanics would not have been applicable before the Big Bang, because nothing would have existed prior to the Big Bang. According to the definition of the Big Bang that I've read, nothing existed prior to that moment. In essence, the universe and time itself began with the Big Bang. If the universe was not in place at that point (and if nothing existed), then no law of physics or quantum mechanics would be able to explain the event. Therefore, there had to be a first cause. When you look at the alternatives, God is the only explanation.

What created god then? By your reasoning everything has a cause. And because you'll say god is eternal, why cant the universe be?
|
|
|
Post by heartofgold on Jun 30, 2006 16:10:37 GMT -5
Yes, God is eternal, and I don't need a scientific explanation for that. You however, not having a spiritual realm to explain things, do need a scientific explanation as to why (all of a sudden) the universe is eternal. You don't have one either, which, for me, is the biggest strike against everything just, happening.
