Hey all, I have a friend who is starting smoking and drinking and just generally heading the wrong way in life. Me (and a few of her friends) are really concerned about this and apart from trying to help her ourselves we believe it is wise to pray to the Lord for her. We ould apreciate your help in this Her name is Janida Henk

Thanks guys God works! I've talked to two of her 'bad' friends and they agreed not to smoke around Janida anymore, so she won't be tempted to smoke as much.

Well that's awesome!! God works. Just a quick question. Is Janida pronounced like an American 'J', or like the American 'Y'. We had a German exchange named Janina, and her name was pronounced YAH-nee-nah. So would Janida be pronounced YAH-nye-duh or JAH-nye-duh?

I figured. Dutch seems to be similar to German in regards to pronunciation.

Quite so, they are both germanic languages I believe.
To go back on topic: Janida's gone in defensive, and she is not to pleased with my interfering. I have however gained support (without her knowing) from most of her friends and I hope that this will go over the easy, non-confronting way. If she still persists in her smoking I will only have two options left: let her continu smoking (ie ignoring it) or confronting her, which will most certainly lead to an even bigger fight than we have now, and I am really afraid of that; I don't want that to happen at all. So I'll continu praying for her and God willing this will all be over.

I appreciate your support and prayers. It is heartwarming to see people pray and show support for people they don't even know.

That is what is awesome about Christianity. You don't have to know someone in order to feel for them and be able to lift them up to God in prayer. You are unspeakably connected by God.
