What would you recommend in each of these situations?
1) A preacher and his wife are living in extreme poverty. They already have 14 children and now find out she's pregnant with the 15th. They're very, very poor. Considering their poverty and excessive world population, would you consider recommending an abortion?
2) Father is sick with the sniffles, and Mother has TB. Of their 4 children, the first one is blind, the second has died, the third is deaf, and the fourth has TB. Mother finds out she is pregnant again. Given this extreme situation, would you consider recommending an abortion?
3) A White man has raped a 13-yr old black girl and now she's pregnant. If you were her parents, would you consider recommending an abortion?
4) A Teenage girl is pregnant. She's not married nad her fiance, who is not the father of the baby, is very upset. Would you consider recommending an abortion?
In the 1st case, you would have killed John Wesley, one of the great evangelists of the 19th century. In the 2nd case, you would have killed Beethoven. In the 3rd case, you would have killed Ethel Waters, the great black gospel singer. If you said yes to the fourth case, you would have declared the murder of Jesus Christ!
God is the author of life and he has given every single individual supreme value. Each life - whether inside or outside the womb - should be valued by us. God knows the plans he has for each individual and has written in his Book all the days ordained for us before each one of them came to be. When we presume to know better than God who should be given life, we are putting ourselves in the place of God and are guilty of idolatry.
I just thought this was an intresting! Thanks to wayofthemaster.com, where I got this. I know its prolly not something to "debate" here, but it seemed to fit best in this category.
