There is a lot of talk of legalizing or regulating and legalizing pot/mary jane/weed. I am curious aso to everyone's opinions on the subject.

legalizing drugs is pretty much the stupidest thing I've ever heard. All it does is re-enforce them..........

I am nearly a libertarian. If it weren;t for their border, sex, and overall drug policy I would switch my affiliation from Republican to Libertarian. Prostitution is jsut...dispicable. WE need tigher borders to ensure our own security, and although MJ might cause fewer problems if legalized and under the FDA's jurisdiction, other drugs, like cocaine, should never EVER be legalized.

It's not a question of making it cause "fewer problems", it's a question of whether taking drugs to get high is morally right or not. Opposition to moral laxity is not wrong, even though that opposition can cause some to cling to it even stronger. The Law (of Moses) is not evil because it can encourage evil by opposition; it is altogether good.

From what I've learned (little) about the Libertarian Party, they're just fiscal conservatives with liberal morals, in short. Not saying that I know that much about libertarianism. Marijuana is a drug. Drugs are a form of withcraft in that they alter your mental state. They are also very addictive. Hence, marijuana should remain illegal. If marijuana is illegalized, you'll have many pot-addicts running around the streets of inner-cities in a greater frequency than they are now. Kids will still be able to get weed (just as kids get cigarettes now), and you'll simply have an increased number of people getting high around the US, excercising their "right" to do themselves and society great harm. Quite frankly, if the US legalizes marijuana, I would begin to question America's morality and would be ashamed to live in such an ungodly country. We're already bad enough; legalizing weed is just another step in the crusade against morals and decency in America. |

Hey I just found out tonight that Marijuana is actually legal in CA and Maryland to fight off cancer.
For things like that i think it should be legal, but outside of prescription it should not.

true, but it's found to be very useful in cancer problems..........not that i'd want to take it even if i had cancer, i'm just saying that if it is useful for those types of things, then i say make it legal, but only for those purposes.

Marijuana is how the poison is spelled- and there is my opinion. Anything in moderation is one of my mottos- it goes here, as well.

I'd take it a step further: Keep marijuana illegal, along with all other street drugs, and ban both tobacco and alcohol, both just as if not more addictive than marijuana. We've been watching shows about tobacco in health class in school, and the dangers of using the drug (which tobacco is and should be classified as such) are very, very serious.

If you look in the Amendments to the Constitution, you will find that the government passed an law that banned alcohol. Of course, under pressure, they repealed it...
