could someone explain to me how this earth can be so young and yet we see galaxies billions of light years away?

Because God created everything in working order. The Bible says God spoke and it was good. If He had made the stars then let the light come all those light-years, the the sun would have taken 7 min. before the light and heat would have gotten here, and the Bible dosn't say, "God waited 7 min. before saying it is good."
