I definitely think that a super-majority of the Bible should be taken literally. When it message proclaims that without Jesus you shall be cast into Hell, I think it should DEFINITELY be taken literally.
But, in books such as Revelation, I think it's mostly symbolism, meaning, I don't think that a 7-headed ugly beast is going to come on Earth and kill us all. It definitely all has a symbolic meaning in my opinion.
So, my answer is: YES

Yes Td the ugly seven headed monster represents The Anti Christ and the seven kingdoms that will join his Empire.I said yes although the stuff Paul says about Women the stuff God says in the old testament about food...those to are clearly not followed. One because it went out when the new covenant shed in blood by the ultimate sacrifice (i.e. Jesus) the other a change of the times is why it's not followed and the reason why it was at one time was because of how men (me a boy so do think i'm not just because i'm righting this anyone who will be new in the future and the catholic) though of women.

well i didn't vote because they are parts that should be and parables that shouldn't be. I think that to know what should be and what shouldn't be is up to you and what God tells you

The Bible should be interpreted literally except in cases where there is an obvious attempt at symbolism, like TD said. I think this is how you believe, Titanian, from your recent post in this thread, so "yes" should be applicable to you. It's not saying that everything is literal, just that everything that isn't a parable, symbolic vision, etc. is literal, thus when the angel said in Matthew "He is Risen," Jesus literally rose from the dead.

I agree with what you guys are saying. The Bible is to be taken literally, except in parables, etc... But as for the truth of the Bible, that is definatly to be taken literally!
