What was, IYO, the greatest invention ever?
I would have to say the Printing Press or the wheel. Imagine life w/o books, and that was mainly how Christianity was spread - the first ever printed book was the Bible. But then imagine life w/o a wheel. W'ed still be using horses!

That's a really hard question because there are a lot of inventions that are vital to our living today, but i am personally biased to the "invention" (more of a discovery) of medicine. Without it we wouldn't leave near as long as we do today.

Well, the Psalmist says "Our days are seventy" or something like that. Basically what we have today.

yes but just like in the Bible where it says God says we can live till 120, doctors have come to find that if a human lived a perfectly healthy life one's organs could last till they were 120......pretty cool huh?

Well, my point was that medicine hasn't changed our lifespan so nearly as you thin. You said:
Without it people three thousand years ago lived just as long as we do today.

no actually that's very not true........For instance in the 18th and 19th century people very rarely lived to see 60......now not only is the average life 70-75.....people who die of old age are commonly 85-90.

So, we're on the rebound. Hey, I'm not against medicine being the best invention ever. It sure has chnaged people's lives!
Falk, you never told us your favorite invention!

... I think that everything is just as important as the other b/c w/o one discovery, alot of other ones would be made impossible (ie: w/o the wheel, no bikes, no cars, no pulleys, no spinning wheels, likely even no gears, no ground based planes, no tanks, no trains, ...) kinda lengthy but u get my drift right?

I agree with Teckor. inventions build off each other- from internal combustion, cars!
Sliced bread is pretty cool...
Wait! Bag-valve-masks!! No more mouth to mouth for me!!!! Ooh-ooh! Another one! Defibrillators! those are SWEET!!!

I got it. Just didn't find it all that funny. Well, of course you got it. But it wasn't intended to make anyone laugh out loud. Perhaps it would have more effect in the medium of Mr. Bennet. But then, he would be out of his time, talking about Ferraris, eh?
