I love classical music. And some Christian rock and jazz, but mainly classical.

I heard this one Christian rap song on the radio the other day, "Are you real" by KJ or something like that. It was, surprisingly, pretty good.
I hate secular rap, though, mostly for the abhorrent lyrics that it sports.

I don't consider "crap" an expletive. I do not find "crap" offensive. "Crap" is simply an alternate word for "poop" or, more formally, "dung."
That's just my reckoning of the situation. I do not consider "crap" to be on the same level with the other four-letter words that are prevalent in society.

I consider it derogatory, in the sense that it's not very nice to talk about "dung". Also, it is used as a swear word, as a milder form of the s-word. How is it not derogatory?

I consider it derogatory, in the sense that it's not very nice to talk about "dung". Also, it is used as a swear word, as a milder form of the s-word. How is it not derogatory? Using the same reasoning, how is describing something as "junk" or "crud" not derogatory? It goes by the same basis: A person likening some object to another object considered less savory. Certainly you don't find anything neccessarily offensive in this sentence: The car was a piece of junk. It all depends on how you personally view words. I draw a line between words like "crap" and "shoot" and words like...well, you know. If people here find a word offensive, I would encourage others not to use the word, if only to prevent strife from occurring. Also, I disagree about the "dung" bit. Talking about "dung" is not derogatory to me because it does not attack me personally. I would consider it quite unpleasant to use the word "dung" in everyday conversation, but I would not go so far as to say it is derogatory or an expletive.

Same here. Does anyone here like James Taylor? It's a pity that corny backing tracks were all the rage in his day, because it spoils his voice and the guitar. Actually, recently I got this CD of a string group with a violin, cello, and double bass. They played rather country-style music, but on one piece James Taylor sang along, old as he is now. It was probably the best song I've ever heard him sing, partly because of the beautiful backing.

One of the greatest soft rock/acoustic singers that ever lived (he's still alive though ;D), and his heyday was back a couple decades ago. He has a lovely voice.
