....... Star Trek is good b/c of mutliple different story lines and lots of thought often involved........ ....... Star Wars has some pretty good action scenes .......  Good thing there was a both option |

Star Wars. Hands down. Or at least, the old Star Wars Movies win hands down. The new ones lost to Polar Express last week.  |

Star Trek is much better. SW really has no plot...just a bunch of action scenes.
Star Trek has a functioning story line and has an entire RP world with historical figures, events, and places.

Did you ever see the old movies? I will be the first to admit the new ones have no plot, no acting, and are bad movies. But the old movies were some of the best movies made.

Yes, I've seen the old movies. They have their moments, but I still think Star Trek is much better. PLUS, there's just so much more Star Trek, you can watch thousands of episodes, while there are only 3 star wars worth watching.

The new ones stink. The old ones were pretty good, though, and certainly seemed more realistic and less dramatized than the new ones.
How about the old Star Trek movies? I've seen 'em all (back when I was temporarily hooked on the vintage version), and I though that they were very good. Anyone else seen them? (I assume TD has, since he's been a rabid Trekkie defender in this thread LOL)

I've seen almost all of TOS, TNG, VOY, and ENT. However, I have never seen too many DS9 episodes.  The old Star Trek movies rocked! The newer ones did too... but the older ones had more of a story line to them. OK, everybody I know always goes on and on about how the old star wars were sooo good with their "realistic" creatures, etc. THEY WERE MUPPETS! Come on! Fakeness |

They were also made in the 70s. Back then, it was the cutting edge my friend.
However, I rarely watch moves for special effects. Star Wars had a lot of other things going for it.

I know it was pretty good for back then, but why does everyone continue in saying that the FX in the original three or so awesome?
If you want to look at cutting edge, look at STAR TREK which came out in the 60s. They had transporters, phasers, ALIENS (better than SW), and ships...in the 60s.

Actually, what Star Wars had going for it was the ship battles. Its not that hard to make an alien. Take a lion costume, draw on it, and stick someone inside. The ship battles and laser fire and such was what everyone liked about Star Wars (besides the fact that they were good movies). |
